After falling behind her compatriot Sloan Stephens, veteran American Serena Williams reversed the equation and reached the final of the United States Championship, one of the Grand Slams in tennis, while Russian Daniel Medvedev continued his easy journey into the same role.

After French Christina Mladenovic was banned from a match in the women's doubles competition, for her contact with her compatriot Benoit Bear, who was infected with the Corona virus, the session witnessed controversy.

After losing the first set 2-6, third seed Williams reversed her delay to a difficult victory over Stevens, ranked 26th in the tournament and 39th in the world, by deciding the second and third groups 6-2 and 6-2 in New York.

Serena lost the first group at the "Arthur Ashe" stadium and in front of empty stands due to the Corona virus pandemic, before she regained her balance against Stevens, the defending champion in 2017 and decided the next two groups, and the match in her favor, in front of the eyes of her compatriot Sophia Keenen, the Japanese Naomi Osaka and the German Alexander Zverev, who followed the meeting.

Serena, 38, is seeking to win the championship for the seventh time in her career, and is equivalent to the record number of titles in "Grand Slam" tournaments, registered in the name of Australian Margaret Court (24).

"It was a tough match," said the former world number one.

In the next round, the American player hit a date with the 15th-seeded Greek Maria Sakkari and the winner over American Amanda Anisimova 6-3 6-1.

And Sakary surprised Williams last month and cut her from the final price of the US Cincinnati Games 7-5, 6-7 (5-7) and 1-6.

In the absence of the fans, Serena commented on the possibility of watching the rest of the matches from the field: “It is nice to watch each other’s matches. This is interesting and I like it. ”

Tunisian Anas Jaber, ranked 27, wasted her 4-2 lead in Group A over second-seeded American Sofia Keenen, before losing 6-7 (4-7) and 3-6.

American Madison Keys, the 2017 runner-up, left her match with French Alise Cornet due to injury, after she was late 6-7 (4-7) and 2-3, according to (AFP).
